Ticket printing 2023




We recommend
Buy neck hengs with logos, so you have for the upcoming events.
Preprint badges with logos and details, keep some whitespace to mount the Label with user details on top.

Required hardware per checkin station
• A PC or MAC can be any type.
• A Dymo label writer (Recommended version here you can find latest list with versions + Link to Buy online)
• Labels (Supported sizes + Link to Buy online)
• Qr reader (Link to Buy online)

The average speed in the Checkin:
120 - 240 attendes per hour / per checkin station,
so think about how many stations you need...

 

1. Download a browser
Options for running silent printing (Suppressed printer dialogue)

2. Install Dymo software / drivers

First you need to go and download dymo driver.

Click on support and you will find the drivers for your operating system.

 

3. Setup the printer

With the printer connected, go to Printers & Scanners. 
Setup the new printer:  Dymo 450 Turbo,.
Click the new printer in the list, click Manage, then click preferences.

Set Landscape, then click the Advanced button in the lower right corner.
Choose the papersize you want to use for the printing:
99014 Shipping or 11356 White Name Badge
You can now do a test print to see it work.

4. Printer from browser

(Not available after you suppress the print dialogue)

After you installed the Dymo driver you should go in the browser you will use and push Ctrl+P to open the browsers Print dialogue.
Here you need to select Dymo Printer as default and set the following parametres:

a. Destination: Dymo LabelWriter 450
b. Pages: All
c. Copies: 1
d. Layout: Landscape
e. Paper size: 99014 Shipping or 11356 White Name Badge
f. Margins: None (NB! Jumps back to default when selecting formats)
g. Quality: 300 dpi
h. Scale: 100 %

5. a Create modiefier shortcut for Chrome or Opera (PC only)

You can use these ready to use desktop shortcuts for Chrome and Opera:

   


If you need more controll, you can create the shortcuts for Chrome and Opera yourself, or modify the once above.

Look or search for where the application is located on your PC and send a shortcut to your Desktop.
You can copy paste  the path below in your explorer

Opera: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\Application\"
Chrome: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\"

Add the shortcut to the desktop
Right click on the aplication icon
 and send a shortcut to the desktop, like image below:

 

5b. Alter the shortcut you just added to the desktop


Right click the shortcut and go to properties and add this to the end of what you already have in the target field:
--kiosk --kiosk-printing

NB! Whenever you use this shortcut to start the browser it will be in kiosk mode and use silent printing.

If you want it to open a specific domain or even a specific event just add the full URL you want after the modifiers:

To a solution - https://YOURDOMAIN
To an event -  https://YOURDOMAIN/index.php/website/render/2/124/admin/eventticketing/EVENTIDNUMBER
NB! - If you use the full path to an event you need to alter the link each time

Chrome:  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --kiosk-printing https://YOURDOMAIN
Opera "C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe --kiosk --kiosk-printing https://YOURDOMAIN


An example below:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --kiosk-printing https://experience.live/index.php/website/render/2/124/admin/eventticketing/100041



 


5. C Create modiefier for Chrome or Opera (MAC only)

Use Chrome  or Opera
To get the kiosk mode with silent printing to run on your mac you need to use the terminal window to launch  the browser.
Sounds more scary than it is, we will help you trough the process.

1. Follow the steps above to download a browser and get the printer configured correctly.

2. a DOWNLOAD DESKTOP SHORTCUTS
   
They should work out of the box

Or use the command to run the browser as you want it from the terminal


2. b Find the terminal:

Go / Utilities folder (if you are in finder) or use the shortcut:
Shift ⇧ + Command ⌘ + U

Inside the utilities folder you will find  the Terminal (looks like this)

Drag the Terminal onto your Dock so you can reach it as any other application.

 

Chrome:  /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --kiosk --app=https://YOURDOMAIN
Opera: /Applications/Opera.app/Contents/MacOS/Opera --kiosk --kiosk-printing --app=https://YOURDOMAIN  &
Opera: fullscreen: /Applications/Opera.app/Contents/MacOS/Opera --kiosk --kiosk-printing --fullscreen &
   

 

5. To get it to run 

In the Chrome addressbar type about:flags in the address bar and search for :
Print Preview Registration Promos 
- Ensure that it is Disabled 


6. Finnishing up

Save and close all tabs and services - so you don't have any browser instance open.

- The new Kiosk printing is ready. 
- If you need to alter the print dimensions, or just want to get back to the normal browser close all open chrome windows and start the application normaly.

8. Installing multiple computers?

You can send the Shortcut to other computers compressed as a zip file by email or move it with a USB stick.
